Thane: Three more held for supplying drugs at rave party

Three more persons were arrested for allegedly supplying drugs at rave party in Thane district.


Thane crime branch has arrested three more persons for allegedly supplying drugs at the New Year's Eve rave party, which was busted by the police, taking the number of arrests so far to five, a senior official said on Saturday, reported news agency PTI.


A large quantity of drugs was allegedly seized at the party held in Kasarwadavli area of the city, reported PTI.


"Police arrested Pratamesh Ingle (25), Aryan Shelar (19), and Krishnadev Mishra (25) for allegedly supplying LSD blots for the party," the official said, reported PTI.

Police had arrested Tejas Kubal (23) and Sujal Mahadik (19) earlier for supplying drugs at rave party, reported PTI.

Police are trying to unravel the network involved in organising and supplying substances for the rave party, he said, adding that the investigation is underway, reported PTI.

In another case, the police have arrested a 50-year-old maid for allegedly stealing jewellery worth about Rs 3 lakh from her employer's home in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said on Saturday, reported PTI.

The theft was reported at Vishnu Nagar locality in Dombivali a couple of days ago, said senior inspector Naresh Pawar of Crime Branch-III in Kalyan, reported PTI.

During their investigation, the police found one Gangubai, alias Geeta Laxman Dalvi, loitering near the house. She turned out to be their maid, reported PTI.

The police apprehended Dalvi on Thursday and began questioning her. After being evasive for some time, she confessed to stealing jewellery and valuables worth Rs 2.97 lakh from her employer's house, the official said, reported PTI.

The police also recovered the stolen jewellery from her, the official added, reported PTI.

Meanwhile, banned tobacco products worth Rs 16.15 lakh were seized, and one person was arrested during a raid at a godown in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said on Saturday, reported PTI.

Based on a tip-off, officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Konkan division, and the local police raided a godown in Gaibi Nagar in Bhiwandi town on Friday, the official said, reported PTI.

Banned tobacco products worth Rs 16.15 lakh were seized from the premises and one person was arrested, while two others managed to escape, he said, reported PTI.

A case has been registered, and a probe is underway to find out about the supply chain of the products, reported PTI.
